Perry I-Pei Tsao is a professor of mechanical engineering specializing in energy storage at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 2007, Tsao has consulted at multiple data centers along the Western Seaboard providing solutions in anticipation of temporary and catastrophic grid power failures. With colleagues Lawrence Zuckerman and Robert Smith, Tsao is the holder of two patents: (20120152300) Use of photovoltaic array string wiring as antenna and transmission line for wired and wireless data communications, and (20130034137) Distributed modem architectures for power line communication systems and other wired communication systems.
